.why do we need to curb porn.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak called on the private sector, schools and cybercafe operators to take it upon themselves to prevent the accessing of pornographic websites on their premises.

"At government departments, we can act against access to such sites. We hope the private sector and schools can take the necessary measures," he said, according to national news agency Bernama.

Najib said access to smut on the Internet can be blocked with specific software and that while the installation of such software was on a voluntary basis, the Government wanted more people to be aware of its importance.

"We hope people will take it up," he said, adding that the Government had not considered making such measures compulsory.

Why exactly do we need to close down and act on pornography on the net? Don't the government see how futile their attempt will be? I mean how many of us males and females alike have not been exposed to porn in their life. Hech, now, movie-stars are calling porn a form of art. That is if they can get a whole lot of cash out of it.

We have already banned the sale of pornographic magazines and our cinema has strict censorship regulations including pornography, religion and bla bla bla!

I wonder why do people have this mindset focused on blame. Not blaming yourself but others. I have seen many people afraid to admit to their own faults instead finding other faults.

Examples:
If you fail, blame the teacher.
Violence, blame the media.
Poor, blame your parents.
Now, porn.. blame the internet.

WTF? what is wrong with you people? Instead of installing softwares curbing people to download or visit pornography sites... wouldn't it be better to install softwares which teach students about safe sex. teach them about responsibilities. Besides, it is the strict regulations of pornography that lead them to the act of visitng porn sites anyway.

Teach them, not restrict them. Help them and don't deprive them.
Gaberment really boh eng wan leh! Always think of nonsense. I know my methods might be criticized or if the government implements this, they will be criticized too but, think long term!

Kanasai! Next time consult us, the problem creators and core users before rectifying the problem!

i guess many of us turn out alright after being exposed to porn, but that doesn't mean everyone is responsible enough. education is a must, but protection from porn is also a must. because i feel porn isn't education, it's entertainment. porn sex isn't 'real' sex anyways.

we'd be surprised to know country like america encourages netnanny on internet to curb exposure of violence and porn to children. it comes standard with their broadband package.

don't censor, but protect. i think najib got it right.

yes, cccp. protect them but for how long? those americans use netnanny for toddlers. kids , children below primary education. it's because they don't want unintentional pop-ups or anything or even parents not knowing about their child's bad habit. even though, who can stop kazaa? and porn mags there?

back to topic, these people who go to cybercafes are intent on damage.

1. if they are old enough to go to a cc, they should be old enough to think what is right and wrong. thus education will be better.

2. if they want to go to a cc instead of surfing at home, it means they go there for a reason and no proggie porn blocking thing is gonna stop them.

well, cccp, i do agree with you but for them to protect without educate is soooooo wrong!

educate AND protect!
